Seagreens® Iodine+ Capsules are a source of vitamins B2, B3, B6 and C, zinc, copper and selenium, among others. The capsules can be taken whole once daily, but can also be easily opened to mix the contents into a smoothie or juice. Seagreens® products are free of additives and all capsules are "Trufilled," meaning they always contain the amounts indicated per capsule.
The most important nutrients in seaweed
Several vitamins and a total of 67 mineral elements have been analyzed in all Seagreens® capsules for human consumption. For example, Seagreens® Iodine+ Capsules are a source of vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C, E, folate, zinc, copper, selenium, iron, molybdenum, potassium and, of course, iodine, among others. Iodine supports the thyroid and normal nervous system function, is important for the skin, contributes to normal energy metabolism and to normal learning ability, and plays a role in normal growth in children. Vitamin B1 (thiamine) is good for the heart and nervous system, activates your body's natural energy and contributes to a clear mind. Zinc is good for bones, the cell division process, vision, the immune system, your hair, skin and nails and for memory. Vitamin E and manganese are antioxidants that are cell protective, and vitamin B3 (niacin) helps with fatigue, supports energy levels and contributes to mental resilience. Seaweed also provides prebiotic polysaccharides. This document on the Seagreens® website provides more information on the high and complex nutritional value of seaweed, including a comparison chart showing the nutritional value of seaweed compared to other plants.
The finer points of seaweed
Seaweed is the collective name for a group of unrelated, large algae that live in salt or brackish water and are also called marine algae or macroalgae. They occur in all the world's oceans and are also often found near river mouths. Some species can adhere to hard substrates, while others float freely in the sea. There are even seaweed species that can grow as long as 60 meters! Seaweeds are extremely strong and tolerate both solar radiation and exposure to air and the violent wave movements of water. They are the most resilient and prolific plant species on earth, coming in a variety of shapes, sizes and structures and packed with nutrients. In fact, they are the plants on Earth that contain the most minerals, as they absorb minerals directly from the ocean and can store them in their cellular structure. In this regard, seaweeds alone because they grow in the sea have unique properties compared to land plants. Among other things, seaweeds are rich in minerals and trace elements such as calcium, sodium, magnesium, iron and iodine, and they contain several trace elements. Seaweed is also a source of antioxidants, prebiotic fiber, vitamins A, C and E and plant proteins. Not surprisingly, in many countries it has been believed since time immemorial that seaweed can contribute to good health!

Our past and our future with seaweed
Seaweed has a long and extensive history as a utility, food, care and medicine. It played a crucial role in evolution in the development of our brains, as we obtained the fatty acids needed for that development from fish and shellfish, which in turn fed on seaweed and other algae. An excavation in Chile's Monte Verde found evidence that seaweed has been used by humans for more than ten thousand years. Other sources mentioning the use of seaweed come from China, where Emperor Shen Nung was already using seaweed as a therapeutic agent 5,000 years ago. Seaweed was also widely used in Europe and North America in the past, especially in coastal areas. However, seaweed was generally more appreciated in other parts of the world, and its use is widespread, especially in Asia. In recent years, however, seaweed has been regaining popularity in all parts of the world. There is increasing research on the special properties of this green gold because of its nutritional, as well as sustainable properties. For example, seaweed is a good food alternative for humans and animals because it can be grown or cultivated quickly, easily and almost in every country on earth. Moreover, seaweed is a CO2 guzzler and can be used to produce green gas and green packaging materials, making it a promising product for a sustainable future.
