Med-Chem Labs was founded in 1966 by Professor Dr. Jon Kabara. Kabara made the groundbreaking discovery of monolaurin in breast milk during his research in the 1960s. This formed the basis for launching Lauricidin® as a brand and product. Lauricidin® is a dietary supplement based on monolaurin to support health. Nutritional effects of monoloaurin

Dr. Kabara and his students in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Detroit have done a lot of research on the nutritional effects of fatty acids, and in particular the fatty acid lauric acid with 12 carbon atoms and monoglyceride, also known as monolaurin. Kabara's studies showed decades ago that certain fatty acids and especially monoglycerides, fatty acids attached to glycerol and found in breast milk, have extraordinary properties. From these findings Med-Chem Laboratories, Inc. was born.

Lauricidic acid from coconut oil

Lauricidin® is now recommended worldwide for its specific properties. Lauricidin® contains pure monolaurin and is made from one part lauric acid and one part glycerol. The lauric acid is derived from pure coconut oil.

LauriShield™ and Lauricare™

Two derivative labels of Lauricidin® from Med Chem Labs are LauriShield™ and Lauricare™. LauriShield™ is Lauricidin® for use on the skin. It is available in various products such as lotion, facial cleanser and ointment for repairing damaged skin and for skin that could use extra support. Lauricare™ is a product line of all-natural care products containing Lauricidin® such as deodorant, toothpaste, hand care and body lotion, among others. The products contain no toxins and are all-natural.
