Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) by Ergomax
PQQ is a coenzyme, an organic nutrient that occurs naturally in the human body. It is also known under the name of methoxatin. The body itself synthesizes about 100-400 nanograms of PQQ per day. Although PQQ does not have the official status of 'vitamin', it does share some common properties. PQQ is related to the B vitamins. It is found, among other places, in breast milk, and to a lesser extent in fermented products, spinach, parsley and green tea.
Benefits
- PQQ is an extremely powerful antioxidant
- PQQ is an endogenous substance
- Synergistic effect with Ubiquinol, R-alpha lipoic acid and acetyl-L-carnitine
- Contains a whopping 10 mg PQQ per capsule
- Suitable for vegans and vegetarians
- Natural origin
- Does not contain gluten, soy or artificial additives
Contains patented MGCPQQ®
MGCPQQ® is widely used in the United States and Japan, where it is known under the name of BIOPQQ®. MGCPQQ® is pure, fully bioactive PQQ and is naturally produced through fermentation. This form and dosage are very well documented. PQQ is a relatively new, but a very promising, supplement. In the coming years, knowledge about PQQ will continue to increase, as will the number and variety of application areas.
Bioactive coenzyme
The organic molecule PQQ was discovered in 1979. Just as CoQ10 it plays a role in the mitochondria, the place where energy (ATP) is produced. PQQ, however, sits in a different part of the cell then CoQ10. The mechanisms of action of PQQ are both interesting and varied. PQQ is made by many types of bacteria, but not by animals or plants—at least that was the initial impression. For this reason PQQ was initially classified as an essential micronutrient and vitamin. Only in 2003 did Japanese brain researcher Tadafumi Kato discover that PQQ also occurs in mammals, including humans.
Beneficial bacteria as source of origin
Like CoQ10 and ubiquinol, PQQ is a bioactive coenzyme. PQQ originates from various types of soil-dwelling bacteria. Vegetable food contains a small amount of PQQ. It can be easily absorbed by the body. Our gut flora may also produce very small amounts of PQQ. In the daily diet, PQQ can be found in small quantities in fermented products, spinach, parsley and green tea. Breast milk also contains relatively high concentrations. But even more interesting: PQQ has been found in star dust!
Intergalactic compound
PQQ is an important growth factor in plants and is transported to various parts of the plant via rhizobacteria and the plant roots. It is a very powerful antioxidant. Perhaps most amazingly, the 'Cometary and Interstellar Dust Analyzer' (CIDA) aboard NASA spaceship STARDUST encountered the substance between the 'space dust' it was analyzing. It seems that PQQ has been with us since, and likely before, the beginning of evolution.
Like humans - who are also fundamentally composed of elements found throughout the galaxy - the existence of PQQ cannot be separated from the billions of years of cosmic evolution that preceded it.
