Gut Nutrients from Seeking Health
Gut Nutrients contains a targeted blend of key nutrients and herbs, including MSM, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, molybdenum, zinc, deglycyrrhizinated licorice, and extracts of cat's claw, turmeric, nettle, milk thistle, aloe vera, and slippery elm.
Blend packed with nutrients
The gut is a mucous-lined organ that performs two vital functions: absorbing nutrients and water and excreting unnecessary substances that leave the body as waste. Gut Nutrients is a powerful blend of synergistic nutrients brought together by Seeking Health. For example, zinc plays a role in the formation and breakdown of carbohydrates, fats, proteins and nucleic acids and supports normal metabolism and the immune system. Molybdenum contributes to normal sulphur amino acid metabolism, cat's claw and nettle support the immune system* 3 and nettle provides energy* 3 and is good for the urinary tract* 3 . Milk thistle supports the cleansing function of the liver* 3 , has antioxidant properties* 3 and supports the immune system* 3 . Quercetin and marshmallow are flavonoids, which have antioxidant properties* 3 and methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) provides bioactive sulphur. Turmeric has also been added to the mix, which also has an antioxidant effect* 3 and supports the immune system* 3 and is good for digestion* 3 .
Evolution of epigenetics
To this day, there is debate about the extent to which we as humans are 'pre-programmed' or are shaped by our environment. The relatively new science called epigenetics bridges the gap between these two extremes. The study examines the hereditary changes that take place in the genome via 'epigenomes', without the DNA sequence changing. The difference between genetics and epigenetics can be seen as the difference between writing and reading a book. Once a story is on paper, this information will be the same in all printed copies of the book. However, every individual reader has a different interpretation of the story, or experiences different thoughts or emotions about it. In the same way, our DNA is interpreted and switched 'on' or 'off' by epigenomes. In this way, the story of our DNA can take different turns, depending on the way in which the epigenomes influence the story. More and more researchers are convinced that epigenomes can in turn be influenced by nutrition and lifestyle. This is of course a very interesting field of research. In particular, the methylation processes that constantly occur in our bodies and that facilitate the functioning of our epigenomes are currently being extensively investigated by epigeneticists.

The process of methylation
The methylation process is one of the most important and imaginative biochemical processes in our body. There is currently a lot of research into it and various studies indicate that there is probably a connection between the ability to methylate and health. The methylation process takes place trillions of times every minute in all cells of our body and has an influence on energy production, DNA regeneration, hormone production and repair and recovery activities. In fact, methylation is a controlled transfer of a methyl group to mainly proteins, amino acids, enzymes and DNA. Substances that are able to donate a methyl group are called methyl donors, such as B vitamins, vitamin C, biotin, zinc, folic acid and betaine. Methyl groups facilitate the on and off switches of our DNA and therefore play an important role in the gene expression of our DNA. They are therefore one of the most researched molecules in epigenetics.

About Seeking Health
Seeking Health was founded by Dr. Ben Lynch, who wrote the 2018 book Dirty Genes after years of research. Lynch received his doctorate in naturopathy from Bastyr University in Washington and has helped thousands of clients, doctors and healthcare professionals worldwide use epigenetic insights in a holistic way to optimize their health. Lynch, currently the most consulted expert in the field of epigenetics, believes that our genetic destiny is not set in stone, but that through proper diet and lifestyle, we can work with our genes to realize our body’s genetic potential.
